A man who admitted spying on another man while he was on the toilet had a fetish for homosexual toilet pornography, a court was told.

Christopher Mansford, of Marlborough Gardens, Faringdon, admitted a charge of voyeurism over the incident at a public toilet in Faringdon in August.

The 45-year-old, who is deaf, was fined £300 and ordered to pay £75 in costs when he appeared at Didcot Magistrates' Court today.

The crime occurred on August 26 in Southampton Street public toilets.

Clare Barclay, prosecuting, said of the victim: "While he was in the toilet, he was aware of something being above him.

"He couldn't see exactly what this was, but he heard a 'beep' sound from a mobile phone and thought a photo had been taken of him while he was on the toilet. He stood up and saw the head of a male above the partition."

She said the man then left the toilet and waited for Mansford in the car park outside.

"He confronted him, took a photo of him on his mobile phone and reported the incident to the police."

When Mansford was arrested at his home the next day, officers found a large amount of pornographic material, depicting homosexual activity in and on toilets.

Mansford's mobile phone also contained images of a similar nature but had no photograph of the victim.

Kate Macnab, defending, said Mansford was a full-time carer to his mother, who was physically and mentally unwell.

She said: "He's extremely remorseful for what he has done. He's virtually housebound and feels very isolated in the community."
