A father who used a gang with dogs to try to find his ex-girlfriend was tonight facing jail.

David Holmes took a gang of friends to a house in Buttercup Square, Blackbird Leys, in February, before kicking down the door and threatening the family.

During the five-day trial at Oxford Crown Court, the 29-year-old, of Arnold's Way, Cumnor, told the jury he wanted to find his ex-girlfriend Kirsty Bradbury and arrange to see his daughter Kayla, then aged two.

Yesterday he was warned he faced jail after being convicted of two charges of harassment and one of affray.

But he was cleared of three charges of putting a person in fear of violence and one of having an offensive weapon.

Earlier in the trial the court heard Holmes had gone to the house, which belonged to Miss Bradbury's brother Ryan East and his family, to find out where his former partner was living.

Jonathan Coode, prosecuting, told the jury Holmes and his friends had taken two or three dogs to the house and ordered them to attack. The dogs did not attack.

Mr Justice Bean adjourned sentencing until November 14, and released Holmes on conditional bail.

He said: "I am not going to sentence you today, but you are quite likely to go to prison when I do come to sentence you."
