We thought long and hard about what to get Littl'un for her first birthday.
It was a major milestone and it seemed like we should buy her something pretty special.
Although, at the same time we secretly knew this could be completely wasted on her.
The other day she was a bit wingey so I grabbed a Tupperware lunchbox out of the cupboard and a wooden spoon and handed it to her. She sat banging her 'drum' for about half an hour - happy as you like.
Despite this, our hunt for the right first birthday gift was long and pretty arduous, spanned about three weeks and even though we ended up buying her a lovely rocking animal in the shape of a bear, we still felt a little unsatisfied.
She loved it however, and had a good rock - before getting off to play with a completely riveting cardboard box.

By the way, went out for a meal with a group of friends last night.
Had a great laugh, but by the end of the night we were all talking about what out little ones were up to and showing latest pix on mobile phones etc.
After dessert, we all looked at our watches and considered a drink somewhere else.
It pains me to admit we all decided against it.
"Got to get back/babysitters etc etc."
Drove home wondering if this makes me 'past it'.
