One of the few surviving World War One veterans is recovering in hospital after collapsing at his residential home.
William Stone, 107, who had been living in Watlington until he needed to move to a residential home in Reading recently, was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital on Saturday, where he was being assessed by doctors this morning.
Mr Stone spent 27 years in the navy after signing up in the last year of the First World War.
A spokesman for the hospital in Reading did not specify the details of Mr Stone's condition, but said: "I can confirm that Mr Stone is a patient here.
"He is comfortable and improving."
Mr Stone is one of only four World War One survivors.
