Beautiful blooms and over-sized vegetables will take pride of place in Oxford's Florence Park for the annual Royal Oxfordshire Horticultural Society Show.
Keen gardeners and newcomers will be vying to produce the best dahlias, chrysanthemums and floral art for the show. The event, on Saturday, September 13, is expected to attract upwards of 1,500 people.
Society chairman Freddie Drinkwater said: "It is a traditional flower show under canvas in a marquee in Florence Park."
There are 100 categories for horticulturists to compete in, including six for children.
As well as the produce and flower show, which is open to the public from 1pm, other attractions include the Strawberry Fair Majorettes, the City of Oxford Silver Band, a country dance team, Punch and Judy, fairground rides and owls.
The prizes will be handed out at 5pm by Lord Mayor Susanna Pressel.
Mr Drinkwater said he would accept exhibits up to next Wednesday, with children's entries taken on the day. For more information about the show, call him on 01865 763260.
THE CUMNOR Horticultural Society annual autumn show on Saturday saw a surge in entries despite this year's difficult growing conditions.
The produce show, which is now in its 71st year, had about 100 entrants in 66 classes. Visiting judge Timothy Jeffries is pictured inspecting the flowers.
Society chairman David Heavens said: "The show went very well. We nearly doubled the number of entrants and we were blessed with the sunniest day in August."
