Numbers come up for bingo widow

An Oxford widow has scooped £61,808 at a city bingo hall - less than a fortnight after a Bicester woman claimed £61,900 at the same venue.

The latest winner, a 38-year-old mother of three, struck gold at the Gala Club at the Ozone, next to the Kassam Stadium in Greater Leys, on Friday.

Playing with her mother and grandmother, the woman - who wishes to remain anonymous - won the National Bingo Game prize of £60,000, plus the regional jackpot of £1,658 and the house prize of £150 after completing a full house in 36 numbers.

She said: "I made my nan jump because I shouted so loud - I couldn't believe it and went bright red."

At the same bingo hall on August 2, a 53-year-old Bicester woman won nearly £62,000. She plans to spend part of her winnings on a trip to Las Vegas with her husband.

As somebody who worked in a bingo hall as a student, the sad truth is that most customers spend more than they win, I'd like to know if these winners have spent £40k on tickets to win £60k

I'm sure they have. Rather like those loyalty cards issued by retail outlets which offer a £5 coupon after you have spent £20,000 on their goods.

The joys of Capitalism!!

However in this case it is the taking part more than the winning that matters.

SO WHAT PEOPLE GO TO BINGO FOR A BIT OF FUN AND AT LEAST IT PAID OFF IN THE END.SHE HAS ENJOYED GOING AND NOW HAS A NICE BIG FAT CHEQUE.GOOD LUCK TO HER.
