The developer behind the proposed Weston Otmoor eco-town, at Weston-on-the-Green, has thanked residents for giving their views at a series of community consultation roadshows.

A total of 1,481 people attended the roadshows, which were held in 17 communities in the surrounding area, including Bicester and Kidlington.

Parkridge director Roger Sporle said: "We're pleased that so many people made the effort to attend the roadshows and give feedback on the proposals.

"We have said that we will use local knowledge and experience wherever possible, to make Weston Otmoor a place that everyone can be proud of. Consultation with local people plays a big part in this."

People attending the roadshows held last month were encouraged to voice their opinions about the plans to build 15,000 homes on 800 acres of farmland, close to junction 9 of the M40, where it meets the A34 from Oxford, and alongside the Oxford-Bicester railway line.

Parkridge said the roadshows were just one strand of the community consultation being conducted by Oxfordshire-based consultation specialist Mistral Group, which has also sent 32,000 letters to households in nearby communities.

People can still give their views online at www.westonotmoor.co.uk Mistral director Victoria Cross said: "It's important that everyone realises that although the roadshows are over, the consultation is still going on, and people have until August 29 to give us their views."

I'm glad that Roger is very happy that so many people have visited the Parkridge/Prologis roadshow, and expressed their views. It seems a real pity that him and his employers then, have so little information that they are prepared to give all those visitors - he won't even answer emails. It's probably best not to mention the lies, half-truths, and misrepresentations that Parkridge/Prologis do give out - and the fantasy railway is probably best glossed over as well, since that can not ever happen - as well they know.

The Dole office is where exactly?

The government had to tell Parkridge to stop changing their plans by July 31 so that here would actually be something to discuss, so quite why they are having a consultation is beyond me.

The consultation process is a joke and it will be shown to be so at the upcoming Judicial Reviews.

As for Mistral, one has to question the sanity of a PR firm that is working to concrete over the very village in which they have their office.

Domiciles for 45,000?

Count on 70,000 living in them, with another 10,000 imaginary persons claiming the dole.

This is just so typical of NIMBY's. Fact is we in Oxfordshire need more housing, so what if we have to dig up a few fields, people need to live somewhere, so lets just get on with it and start the work.

Just because someone is going to lose a nice view of a green field, it makes me sick, we need houses !!! Yes we I understand the environmental aspect but it keeps coming back to us humans ........... yes real families .........we need more affordable housing in Oxfordshire.

So lets just get on with and start building immediately.

I think 1481 people attending 17 roadshows is pathetic. That's less than 90 people in each community that are interested enough to even bother to show up. I agree with Joe of Kidlington. We need housing. Wherever it's planned the NIMBYs will come out of the woodwork. I'm sorry that the million pound Mansions in Weston on the Green and surrounding villages will be devalued by having a new estate near them, but they won't be worth much by the end of the recession anyway.

For the benefit of the moronic 'Joe' and 'Vicky', you really should do some homework before you open your ill-informed mouths. We hear the constant rattle about the 'poor, unhoused, people' of Oxfordshire. Indeed Flint never shuts up about it! Here's the truth kids....without the Parkridge/Prologis eco-con, Oxfordshire has 47200 homes planned to be built - around 14160 of these will be 'social' or 'affordable'. The majority of these are to be built in the Cherwell area (you might want to note that Oxford City Council are only taking around 7000 of these). This is more than enough to provide for all of the social housing needs of the county - about twice over actually. The eco-con new town that Flint and her US-backed multi-million dollar buddies are pushing for has nothing at all to do with housing the poor - the needy - or the homeless. It is simply about providing a captive (and if you check the Parkridge/Prologis scheme, you'll find that is the right word) workforce for the Parkridge/Prologis warehousing and distribution hub that is at the centre of this entire project. Have a look for yourselves...stop being conned by every passing politician and multinational corparation that roles out a scheme.
