Three work colleagues in Kidlington are pounding the streets as they prepare for next month's Race for Life and Run for Moore.

Friends Roger Mathew, Katie Connon and Rosie Jones have gone from novice runners to fitness fanatics as they prepare for the 5km runs in aid of Cancer Res- earch UK.

And the trio's trainer Nik Roberts, from Garden City, Kidlington, is in training himself, to tackle the Blenheim Triathlon on June 8.

The 35-year-old said: "We all work at the same company and I've been helping the three of them with coaching for the past three months.

"They've gone from a standing start to 5km by training at lunchtimes, after work and in their own time.

"They have getting on really well. I had to crack the whip at the start when there was a cold spell in March, but it's a bit easier now and they're starting to enjoy it more."

All four work at ts.com, an online ticket sales company based at Langford Locks.

Roger, 37, from East Oxford, is tackling the Run for Moore in the University Parks, Oxford, on June 8 - raising money for bowel cancer, which took the life of the England football legend Bobby Moore in 1993.

He said: "I'm very keen to raise money to fight cancer - I lost a cousin to cancer and my uncle is fighting cancer at the moment."

Katie, 32, is running at the Race for Life at Silverstone on June 11, because she was too late to sign up for the Oxford event in the University Parks on June 8, which Rosie Jones is tackling.

She said: "It's a bit of a shame Rosie and I aren't running in the same race, but we will be together in spirit."

Rosie, 26, from Wantage, added: "I had never really run before and I got into it really quickly. It's really enjoyable.

"My first target was to raise £100, but everyone has been great and I have raised more than £300."

The trio hope to raise £1,000 between them. To support them, call ts.com on 01865 856155.

I think this is a brilliant initiative from all angles- in terms of personal health and fitness, building teams at work and supporting very worthwhile cause.
