Honour for top scientist

An Oxford professor has been named a woman of outstanding achievement in science, engineering and technology.

Prof Kay Davis was one of six women chosen from 125 nominations for the UK Resource Centre for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology's Women of Outstanding Achievement.

The aim of the awards is to profile pioneering women in the sector. Prof Davis works in genetics and has conducted research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Great news I'm glad that Prof Davis is being recognised for the fantastic work she is doing in DMD research. As a parent of a child with Duchenne we are so grateful.

I second that; and we are also grateful for the support she shows at the annual ActionDuchenne Conference, where I go to find out about the latest treatments that may help my son, Matthew Barrett, who is 12.
