Radley Parish Council said today it will carry on the battle to protect Thrupp Lake from the bulldozers.

It comes despite a recent decision by power giants RWE npower to put on hold plans to dump fly ash into Thrupp Lake.

The parish council has vowed to carry on with the judicial review of Oxfordshire County Council's decision not to register land around Thrupp and Bullfield Lakes as a town green.

The county council's planning and regulation committee backed a ruling by an inspector following a public inquiry.

However, campaign group Save Radley Lakes refused to give up and launched a £40,000 appeal for funds to support the judicial review.

Well done Radley Parish Council. They have shown courage to elucidate the law.

Abingdon Town Council didn't have the guts to undertake the judicial review themselves but encouraged Radley to do the work which might produce a Town Green for Abingdon (not Radley!). Let's hope Abingdon will be more supportive at a later stage!

If Npower were to donate Thrupp Lake to Abingdon or Radley they would save themselves and us a load of hassle, gaining Brownie points for themselves along the way. They might even get back some of their lost customers!
