Boris Johnson says there is "absolutely no doubt" he will be elected Mayor of London - and step down as an Oxfordshire MP.

The Henley MP gave his confident prediction to parliamentary journalists, despite a recent poll showing him trailing behind sitting mayor Ken Livingstone ahead of the election on May 1.

The Tory MP later told the Oxford Mail that he would quit as MP if elected mayor, triggering a by-election if he left before the next General Election.

Surely if he was that confident he would resign now and give the next MP the chance to be a full-time MP during Boris' Campaign for Mayor!

A fresh start for Henley after the worst case scenario for London?

I think most would prefer a candidate who does not hail from a dead political party or the ranks of the BBC.

I liked Boris - But I am hoping for a BNP candidate to win the seat , all the main political partys are in cahoots to defraud the taxpayer and turn us into a european fed
