A rock musician has been left frothing with rage after the venue where his band Ned Kelly were playing ran out of beer.

He now wants the owners of Wantage Civic Centre, the Vale of White Horse District Council, to apologise for the blunder.

Tony Stock, 43, who plays keyboard, said the incident made him look a fool.

He wants a public apology and the hall hire fee donated to charity.

The father-of-two, from Noble Close, in Wantage, said: "I worked my socks off and spent several thousands pounds on ensuring this event was impeccably organised and complied with every health and safety requirement put to me.

"After all of this the only thing the council had to do was arrange a bar to which they failed miserably."

Council spokesman Nikki Malin said lager did run out, but that it was replenished within 50 minutes.

She said numbers attending changed at the last minute, which did not give them time to order extra stock.

"We have offered our apologies to the organiser and will use this as a learning experience for similar functions in future," she said.
