Last Sunday, there were Environment Agency Flood Watches on the Thames, Thame, Evenlode, Windrush and Ray, so the majority of angling matches were cancelled and will be fished another day.

RS Baits held their latest Boddington Cup match on a windswept Boddington Reservoir where the 15 matchmen found the going pretty hard as the cold weather made the carp go off the pellet.

With a top weight of 53.0.0 of carp, Dave Rossi (Leicester Likey Lads) was the clear winner, fishing the method and alternating between boilie and meat.

Not far behind was Jeff Ringer (Ringer Baits) with 48.12.0. He switched between the method and the bomb with 'tea bags' (small PVA bags) and boilies on the hook.

Match organiser Richard Strange (RS Baits) finished third with 36.4.0 of method-caught carp on punched meat.

It was hard work for the 17 anglers who fished the third match in the Oxford Carp Winter League series held at Tunnel Barn. There had been a Winter League match on the water the previous day, so they all had to work hard.

Fishing pellet tight against the island, Chris Dann put 37.8.0 of F1 carp on the scales to win.

Matt Ryman (Predator) fished at 14m and landed 30.6. 0 on bloodworm over joker, while also fishing tight to the island was Paul Dann, who finished third with 24.2.0. Like his brother, Paul fished pellet.

Targeting some sawn-off stumps at around 5m, Tony Prescott caught carp and roach for a second-placed 15.8.0, while Anthony Tompkins finished third with 6.7.0 of carp on pellet fished at 7m.

Beehive AC fished their latest Winter League on a very wet and windswept Lower Court.

Kevin Jeacock faced the full force of the wind but still topped the 12-man field with 30.6.0 of carp and skimmers to waggler and maggot.

Martin Wilkinson followed him with 14.12.0 of carp and skimmers to pole and maggot, while third was Dave Simmons with 11.4.0, two carp to waggler and maggot.

Fourteen fished the latest Kinloch P Woodley Winter League match at Panshill, but only seven caught.

Dave Wilsdon, using double red maggot on a size 26 hook, put 19.12.0 of carp on the scales for a clear win.

Terry Scanes was on a cage feeder with maggot and landed one carp for a second-placed 2.4.0, and another carp of 2.0.0 earned Fred Harrison third.

Tomorrow sees the final match in this year's Oxford Division Angling Times Winter League, which is on the Oxford Canal between Wolvercote Lock and Walton Well Road, so last Sunday, 50 matchmen turned up to fish a practice open.

After the rain, the canal was well coloured and had some flow, but fished very well and every section except one was won with over 4lb.

Sat above Black Bridge at Wolvercote, Steve Johnson (Drennan Oxford) took skimmers and roach on the punch and perch on the chop for a winning 13.9.0.

Chipping Norton rod Pete Hickman was below Aristotle Bridge and landed a carp going 8lb, plus some perch, all on the chop for a second-placed 10.9.0. There was a joint third with both G Didcot (Chipping Norton) and A Silvey (Isis VDE) weighing in 07.06.00 of perch taken on the chop.

The canal at Grovelands was the venue for Kidlington's Christmas Match, where 12 members turned out.

Using the pole with chopped worm, Alan Steele landed two chub worth 3lb, then went on to the punch to tempt small roach, gudgeon and skimmers for a winning 7.0.0.

Henry Clarke used bloodworm over joker for 4.6.0 of small roach and second place, followed by Jason Bean with a perch worth 1lb, plus some small roach for 3.8.8.
