Dozens of people have contacted Ratwatch - the group set up to monitor the city's rodent problem - since its launch last weekend.
The group was set up by Dr Frances Kennett, who withheld her council tax in protest after her home was invaded by rats.
She said: "Most of the people writing in are making the connection between filth in the streets and rats."
