A SINGER who has been performing on stages around Oxfordshire and beyond for more than 40 years took to the tv screens across the country on Sunday for this year’s X Factor competition.
Jacqueline Maynard, from Marsh Gibbon near Bicester, wowed the judges including music mogul Simon Cowell and pop legend Robbie Williams with a rendition of ‘You’re my world’ by Cilla Black.
The 53-year-old – who often sings in care homes around the county - was close to tears as she brought the crowd and all four judges to their feet for a standing ovation and even was blown a kiss from Mr Cowell himself.
Robbie Williams said: “You transport me to safety, kindness, there’s something really special about you.”
He then met the singer back stage for a hug before telling Mrs Maynard how amazing she was.
Simon Cowell added his surprise at her performance and said: “Actually you’re a little tiger aren’t you.”
All four judges said yes to Mrs Maynard to go through to the next round of the ITV tv show.
