FOOD fans have sunk their teeth into a feast of flavours this weekend as a festival of gourmet grub returns to Oxford.

Foodies Festival in South Park, which carries on cooking tomorrow, has attracted chefs from across the country, all serving delicious dishes from a range of cuisines.

Alongside the dozens of stalls giving off a tantalising mix of aromas, several celebrity chefs are sharing the tricks of the trade with visitors in packed out tents.

Yesterday, Masterchef 2018 winner Kenny Tutt treated his audience to an hour-long live cooking demonstration peppered with anecdotes from his time on the BBC show.

Last year's Great British Bake Off winner Sophie Faldo also made an appearance on day one, performing a baking masterclass in the Cake & Bake Theatre.

Some of Oxfordshire's finest chefs showcased their talents today, with The Oxford Kitchen's Paul Welbern kicking off proceedings in the Chef's Theatre.

Masterchef finalist and Oxford University medical student Nawamin Pinpathomrat have also cooked live this afternoon, with Paul Bell from Cherwell Boathouse completing the county's trio of culinary masters.

Visitors on the first two days took full advantage of the delights on show and several food and drink stalls offered free samples to entice customers.

Every cuisine under the sun appears to be represented on the well-stocked site and many visitors took the opportunity to try more exotic delicacies.

Richard Karpa, from Bicester, tucked into his first ever buffalo burger yesterday and revealed his mission was to try as many new cuisines as possible.

He said: "I'm enjoying trying foods I normally shy away from.

"It's such a nice atmosphere and every stallholder is lovely, they'll chat to you about anything."

Everything from paella to peanut butter is available as food takes centre stage, but the festival's Drinks Theatre ensures those keen to quench their thirst do not have far to look.

Tasting sessions for gin, wine and champagne have so far proved unsurprisingly popular as experts provide tips on their favourite tipples.

Nicky and Cat Ashby Guest took advantage of yesterday's warm weather to sit in the sun with a glass of prosecco.

Nicky said: "It's the perfect weather to come out and drink prosecco and eat lots of lovely food."

Today's visitors were not so fortunate with the elements, but there are still plenty of activities to keep everyone happy.

Children can get their hands dirty in the Kids Cookery Theatre, creating their own take on family favourites such as nachos and Eton Mess.

The obligatory bouncy castle is on hand for children not interested in the edible entertainment, while guests can have a go at games and activities including beer pong.

A full programme of live music provides the soundtrack to the weekend, with The Hoosiers headlining last night and Toploader scheduled to close tonight's proceedings.
