A CARAVAN made an extraordinary entrance to its new residence in Cutteslowe in 1974.

That September brought about a new want for a caravan for one family in Aldrich Road, Cutteslowe, following the summer holidays.

However in order to get it to its new home the entire thing had to be hoisted up over homes – and washing lines – to get into place.

A giant crane was called in to do the job and was pictured carrying the caravan into the family's garden.

The hair-raising manoeuvre was over with in about five minutes as the driver's skills impressed the neighbours who stood by watching.

He had only six inches to spare between the two sides of the garden fence and duly deposited the caravan in the rightly spot without any problem.
