THOUSANDS flocked to Witney Music Festival this weekend with young and old enjoying the two days of free fun.

Taking place on Friday and Saturday on The Leys, the event was headlined by Liverpool-based rock band The Farm, with Noasis, the UK’s biggest Oasis tribute act, also performing.

There were also fairground rides, food stalls and fireworks.

Around 300 bands and artists applying for festival’s 17 slots - with some from as far as Eastern Europe.

A BBC Introducing stage was unveiled for the first time, to reflect the festival’s aim of giving local musicians a platform.

Hundreds of young artists participated in events in the run up to the festival, including Battle of the Bands and the oxFactor.

Ahead of the event, festival chairman Eric Marshall said: “There’s no denying the popularity of the festival and what it brings to Witney.

“When people come together for the day it’s all about the music.”
