DEVELOPERS have been handed outline permission to build another 240 homes at Kingsmere in Bicester.

The approval comes as the most recent plans approved for building homes on the site which has been under construction since 2010.

Hundreds of homes have already been built on the site, led by developers Countryside Properties, and CALA Homes is the latest housebuilder to gain permission for another 240 new homes.

These will make up part of the overall plans to build up to 2,450 homes on site.

CALA commercial director Michael Moore said: "We are delighted to have received outline planning approval on the second phase of homes at Kingsmere; our first development in Bicester.

"With over 200 homes to build over the coming four years, we’re looking for high-quality, local subcontractors to work in partnership with us."

The developers said its plans would create about 100 new jobs for the area as they enlist local tradesmen.

Mr Moore added: "Anyone interested in working with CALA Homes is invited to visit cala.co.uk/Bicester to find out more about the opportunities available, as well as the recruitment event this month.”

The developer will hold an open recruitment event at The Lion at Wendlebury, off Wendlebury Road, on August 29, from 4pm to 8pm.

People will be able to find out what jobs will be available as part of the project.

Once complete, Kingsmere will boast a secondary school, two primary schools, a village centre, youth centre, a sports village and retail park.
