A MAN has evaded police after a high-speed chase through Bicester.

Thames Valley Police has confirmed officers pursued a driver who failed to stop in Kingsley Road at 5.48pm yesterday.

The force said it was a routine stop, but the vehicle sped off before the driver then fled on foot.

Following a search the driver was not located.

Scores of residents took to social media having reportedly seen several police cars charging through the town.

Many residents reported seeing the commotion around the Bure Park area and Southwold estates.

There were also reports of multiple ambulances seen nearby, along with several police cars and helicopters.

South Central Ambulance spokeswoman Michelle Archer said they did send out an air ambulance and crews out to Bicester yesterday evening but for a 'medical emergency' which appears to be a seperate incident.
