SPORT fans are being called to get stuck into a new initiative in the north of the county.
Sport England, Run Together Cherwell and Cherwell District Council have teamed up to get more people active across the district.
The project is looking for volunteers to train as run leaders in both Bicester and Banbury.
They are looking for people who love running and are ‘friendly, inspiring, organised and positive’ to help people to start running, or support groups across the district.
There will be a one-day Leadership in Running Fitness (LiRF) course in a bid to find some new leaders.
Run Together is a national England Athletics programme and the project has secured funding from Sport England to set up a local group across the district.
Cherwell District Council lead member for health and wellbeing, said: “If you are a keen runner this is a fantastic opportunity to acquire skills and knowledge which will help you to encourage others to enjoy the benefits of regular exercise.”
The course is free and will be held on Saturday, September 29, from 9am to 5pm.
It takes place at Heyford Park Free School in Upper Heyford near Bicester.
