Pigs were left running loose on a road near Kingston Bagpuize in Oxfordshire when a lorry transporting the animals overturned today.

Twelve of the 220 pigs on board the lorry, which overturned at about 12.30pm, escaped.

Firefighters, including an environmental protection unit, were called to the accident at the junction of the A415 roundabout the A420 Oxford to Swindon road.

The driver of the lorry was treated by ambulance staff at the scene for minor injuries and fire crews were trying to stem the flow of diesel leaking onto the road.

The pigs remain on the run.

Last time I saw pigs in that part of the world, they had speed radar guns

Maybe the truck driver had overheard some business intelligence b*****it in the vicinity

Sombody should complain to the local MP David Cameron – he’s bound to find a way to blame brown/bush and blair for the stray pigs.
Maybe we’ll get him hunting round the KB hedgerows for pigs as some kind of photo opportunity.

I bet more effort and resources are poured into this than there was when they broke out of Campsfield.

Southmoor is actually in Ed Vaizey's Wantage constituency. The comment may still be valid though...

Maybe the pig's realised they were heading for Swindon and revolted. Their leader was an ex special forces pig. John Hambo.

Alright, listen up, people. Our fugitives have been on the run for ninety minutes. Average hoof speed over uneven ground barring injuries is 2 miles-per-hour. That gives us a radius of six miles. What I want from each and every one of you is a hard-target search of every gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and doghouse in that area. Checkpoints go up at fifteen miles. Your fugitive's names are piggy, piggy, piggy, piggy, piggy, piggy, piggy, piggy & piggy. Go get them.

Does nobody think of the welfare of live animals being transported? For goodness sake, these creatures are far more intelligent than the few who have left their previous comments on this topic.

It's a metaphor for the proletariat driving out their oppressors and attempt to take control of their own destiny. Their leader was called Stalin I think and it didn't work out too well.

A friend of mine, Anna, who runs a local company, said first reports of 12 pigs escaping were wrong - she reckon over 100 had made a break for it. She also said there was a police helicopter out there and it was scaring the little piglets - they were scattering in all directions.
