TWO men were taken to hospital after being stabbed during a confrontation with a gang in Banbury last night.

One of the men, a 64-year-old, has since been discharged but the other, aged 36, remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Police have arrested two men and a woman in connection with the incident which occurred in Ruscote Avenue at around 7.20pm.

Police have said patrols will be increased in the area.

Officer in the case, Detective Inspector Jim Holmes, of Force CID at Banbury station, said: “We are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen what happened during this incident.

“This incident happened in a public area and could have been witnessed by a lot of people.

“We are particularly eager to hear from anyone who may have mobile phone footage.

“Neighbourhood Team resources will increase patrols in the area for the next few days as reassurance to the public.

A 25-year-old man from Banbury and a 27-year-old man of no fixed abode were arrested on of GBH with intent.

A 26-year-old woman from Banbury was also arrested on suspicion of assault.

All three are currently in police custody.
