AN ALL-FEMALE acapella group from Oxford has booked its place at Edinburgh Fringe Festival next month but the singers need funding to get there.

The Oxford Belles - made up of students from Oxford University and Oxford Brookes - want to mark the centenary of women's right to vote by performing their show 'Women of Note' at the world's largest arts festival.

The group shot to fame last year with their rendition of Cyndi Lauper's 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun(damental) Rights' for International Women's Day.

Samantha Imafidon, a member of the group, said: "It is so important to constantly celebrate women, that is what our video [Girls Just Want To Have Fun(damental) Rights represented and why our Edinburgh Fringe show is so important to us.

"It’s incredible to see how far women have come in 100 years, despite all the setbacks. It’s exciting to even think of what can happen in the next."

On Sunday the singers performed on a live broadcast of Deborah Francis-White’s popular podcast, ‘The Guilty Feminist’, and also discussed feminist issues.

They said their aims for the festival, which runs throughout August, were to 'educate people on the history of feminism with regards to music'.

They also want to sell their album 'Women of Note' at the festival to raise money for the Malala Fund.
