A NEW care home in Kidlington welcomed a famous face to officially open the space for residents.

TV presenter and writer Angela Rippon went along to mark the official opening of Lincroft Meadow Care Home in The Moors.

The celebrity was invited to throw open the doors to the home as part of her ongoing support of those affected by dementia.

Ms Rippon was awarded a CBE last year for services to dementia care and she is an ambassador for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The new care home in Kidlington will provide 24-hour nursing, dementia and respite care for visitors.

Home manager Elaine Ratcliffe said: “Angela is an excellent person to open Lincroft Meadow.

“She knows about the challenges of choosing a care home for a loved one, as she had to choose one for her own mother.

“She considers that the quality of care from the staff and the management, but also the social and mental stimulation, make a good care home.”

Lincroft Meadow Care home was officially opened by Ms Rippon on Friday, June 22, with a special event to mark the 'momentous occasion' for the group.

The new home boasts all private bedrooms with en suite wetrooms for residents plus dining areas, a cinema area, hairdressing salon and private dining area for family celebrations.

The new home is also open to visitors 24 hours a day.

Activities are also held regularly to help build a community, for more details on these or the home itself porthaven.co.uk
