FREE journeys on a new pick-me-up bus service are on offer this week as a bus company tries to encourage people to leave their cars at home.

The Oxford Bus Company is taking part in the sixth annual Catch the Bus Week campaign which aims to promote bus travel.

From today until to July 8, customers can claim a free journey on the company's new Pick Me Up app, which launched last week.

Described as 'Uber for buses', it allows residents in the east of the city to order a bus to a ‘virtual stop’ on demand.

To take advantage of the offer of a free journey enter the code ‘CATCHBUS’ into the app during Catch a Bus Week.

Oxford Bus Company Managing Director Phil Southall said: “Catch the Bus Week is a brilliant way of highlighting the numerous benefits of bus travel.

"We are pleased to be supporting the campaign and would encourage people to take part and use it as an opportunity to see what buses have to offer."
