STARS from the reggae world will headline this year's Om and Bass Festival next weekend.

'Conscious reggae' artists Deadly Hunta and Zen Lewis – who have previously played together at Glastonbury – will entertain revellers on the Saturday night at the Reggae Dome, between sets by Leo B and DJ Ed Lewington.

DJ Jimmy Thunder, who won a prestigious award at the One Love Festival, will play on Friday night.

About 700 people are expected to attend this year's festival on the Braziers Park estate near Wallingford, which will feature some 133 workshops from July 6 – 8.

The packed three-day schedule will see events take place across eight alternatively named areas - the Yoga Barn, Shanty Shala, Creation Corner, Peace and Rainbows, Karma Culture, Main House Yoga Hall, Main House Dining Hall and Reggae Dome.

Friday will see funk reggae band Storytellers open the festival, in their fourth consecutive year at the event, followed by lively solo reggae artist Shumba.

The ‘community-orientated’ event, set in 55 acres of grounds, is holding a host of wellbeing and spiritual activities, including yoga, dance, martial arts, meditation, spa treatments, crafts and talks.

Music will play from 8pm to midnight on the Friday and Saturday nights.

Organiser Rachel Cox said: “This event is quite possibly the most fun and uplifting wellbeing event of the summer. The daytime activities are second to none and the evening music is incredible. If you are looking for a great weekend that doesn’t cost the earth, this is it.

“The people who come back every year – despite no big advertising campaigns – say everything about the festival.”

The environmentally conscious festival will enforce a plastic and glass-free site this year, while programmes made from recycled paper feature vegetable ink.

Eco-friendly toilets and showers are also on the site, which has a smoking ban and will not sell alcohol – though visitors can bring their own booze.

A busking stop and children’s adventure playground will also feature.

An eclectic, mostly vegan, menu features global cuisines, while essentials are available from a small supply shop.

Doors open at midday and workshops begin at 4pm.

Weekend tickets cost £165. Day and evening tickets are available on the door from £45.
