CAMELS, cacti and palm trees will help one amateur dramatics society Go, Go, Go all-out Joseph for their latest production.

The Launton Village Players, based near Bicester, are currently busy rehearsing for their performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

The players will bring to life the Biblical tale of Joseph and his coat of many colour at Launton Parish Hall on Friday, July 13, and Saturday, July 14.

Launton Village Players publicity officer Robert Cornford said: "The cast are busy transforming Launton Parish Hall into scenes from the Old Testament - including Joseph’s home ranch in Canaan and the Pharaoh’s Ancient Egyptian Palace, complete with palm trees and pyramids."

The story tells a tale of Joseph, his father's favourite son, who is blessed with prophetic dreams.

However he is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and taken to Egypt.

The story follows his journey after being brought before the Pharoah to interpret some unusual dreams.

Mr Cornford added: "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year.

"Despite starting life as a simple 15 minute one-off show at a school in London, it has become one of the most enduring and popular musicals of all time, and Andrew Lloyd Webber is currently in negotiations to bring a 50th anniversary production to London’s West End.

"In the meantime, come and see the show on stage in Launton: it promises to be a colourful and entertaining family show."

The Launton Village Players is staging the performance with The Musical Company across two evening shows and one afternoon show.

Tickets are on sale now at the Costcutters shop in Launton on Bicester Road and tickets are £9 for adults and £5 for children.

All profits will go towards the Launton Parish Hall Improvement Project which hopes to upgrade the old building for the local community.
