CONFUSION over a horsebox trailer in a CPZ and a graffiti spree has left a mother-of-three feeling ‘targeted’ as she tries to set up a business for her son.

Claire Turner has converted a horsebox trailer into a catering van to launch her Bounce N’ Brunch business.

But it has been hit by vandals on several occasions and been threatened with ‘removal action’ by councillors after being parked in Hayfield Road, North Oxford.

The 42-year-old, who is awaiting a kidney transplant, said: “I feel targeted, I am getting parking tickets daily and the van has been vandalised with graffiti.

“I have seen many other cars on the road without permits and they never seem to get tickets.

“Then a leaflet was sent to the whole street threatening me that it would be removed.”

She said: “I’m just trying to set up a business for my 17-year-old son - we hope to soon be trading in Port Meadow but this has made it so much more difficult.”

County councillor for the area John Howson, who initially sought removal action, said he was unable to get answers regarding council rules on trailers in controlled parking zones.

He also said that Ms Turner’s house was excluded from the zone though she had not been made aware on moving in.

Mr Howson said he would be investigating both issues.

In the meantime he hoped Ms Turner would find a solution and suggested the new community hub at Aristotle House to park the catering van.

He said: “Hayfield Road is an anti-commuter CPZ – you can’t park there in the day without a permit, but you can at night.

“This horsebox has been there for a couple of months now, it had nothing on it to suggest who it might belong to or whether it was allowed to be there and we need to enforce these zones.

“But the situation is clearer now and I know she is trying to set up her own business and I will support her to the hilt on that.

“I will also be looking into the wider issue of CPZs and where non-motorised vehicles fit in.”
