GAMERS young and old were able to experience what it's like to actually be a part of their favourite classic computer games as Gloucester Green was transformed into an interactive arcade zone.

Actual Arcade Reality allowed people to dodge barrels, fire rockets, avoid lasers, and build Tetris walls with recreations of some of the most well-known video games of yesteryear.

Paul Armstrong and his three-year-old son, Hugo, from Oxford, were enjoying the retro arcade zone.

He said: "We live close by and we saw them setting it up.

"Hugo was very excited to see what it was all about.

"It's good weather for it and I think it's great fun."

Oxford Mail:

Hugo, while busy concentrating on the Marble Run game, agreed enthusiastically with his father adding: "I like this one the best."

The Actual Reality Arcade was in the town centre square from 11am until 4pm as part of the Oxford's Offbeat Festival.

Actual Reality Arcade creator, Matthew Harrison said: "I used to enjoy the games at the arcades when I was younger, but we've lost most of them now as they've moved onto consoles in people's homes.

"The idea was to recreate that a little bit.

"But this way it gets people out and playing together."
