OXFORD East MP Anneliese Dodds is holding a special surgery tomorrow for members of the Windrush generation.

Ms Dodds will use the event to identify people impacted by the Windrush scandal – in which British citizens whose relatives moved to the UK in 1940s were threatened with deportation as a result of the Government's 'hostile environment' for illegal immigrants.

People potentially affected will be able to have their questions answered and ensure they have support to regularise their immigration status.

Ms Dodds said: “This surgery is really important to me. I have already helped some Windrush constituents get a passport and avoid deportation, but there will be other people in Oxford that are affected, and I want to reach out to as many affected constituents as possible.”

She said there might be a number of ways in which constituents could be affected and that Oxford residents could still be struggling to prove their right to work or access benefits.

Ms Dodds said: "Please bring with you the details of any interactions you’ve had with the Home Office, and if possible any letters they have sent you. But if you can’t find these documents, don’t worry, you can still come and discuss your situation.”

She will be joined at the surgery by a caseworker, who specialises in immigration matters, and will be on hand to advise whether people might be able to claim compensation.

The surgery will be held tomorrow from 1.30pm until 2.30pm.

It will be held at the New Testament Church of God in Between Towns Road, Oxford.
