OXFORD Brookes has been revealed as the UK's number one university under 50 years old.

It also moved up to 40th in the world rankings in the QS Top 50 Under 50 - the only UK institution to make the list.

Brookes University has now come top of the pile in the UK two years running.

Vice-Chancellor, professor Alistair Fitt, said: "To be recognised as the UK’s top university in this latest ranking is a great honour.

"To achieve such a fantastic accolade for a second year running is an even greater achievement.

"It demonstrates an unyielding commitment to our students and to ensuring that we provide world-leading teaching, research and support."

Earlier this month it was recognised as the top UK institution in the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings.

Last month it climbed nine places in the Guardian University Guide, remaining in the top 50 institutions in the UK.

Professor Fitt said: "The international reputation of Oxford Brookes is such that when I speak to people from across the globe, they recognise the excellent qualities of this very special institution.

"I have no doubt that our latest ranking success will only enhance this.

"Students here benefit from an outstanding experience and go onto make a real difference after graduating.

"I’m sure that our next generation of students will take note of this, and our other recent examples of ranking success, and look forward to joining our exceptional academic community."
