CIRCUS performers took over the streets of Oxford this week to drum up support as their show rolled into town.
Giffords Circus have returned to the city for a run that lasts until Monday, June 25.
With 2018 marking the 250th anniversary of the birth of circus, this year the performers are celebrating its beginnings, which happened near Westminster Bridge in London in 1768.
The renowned troupe say the enduring attraction of the circus is due to its role as the 'most bonkers, surprising, diverse and life affirming art form there is'.
Those out and about on Thursday were treated to a surprise show as clowns, baton twirlers, acrobats and clowns paraded through the streets of Oxford to promote the show.
