HOME Secretary Sajid Javid has vowed to tackle child sexual exploitation and said he will leave the abusers of children 'with no place to hide'.

The Tory MP and secretary of state was speaking after six men were jailed for nearly 70 years for running a 'cynical and predatory' grooming ring across Oxford.

Mr Javid welcomed the convictions on what he called a 'barbaric' group of men.

He said: "As a father myself, I am glad that this barbaric group of men are finally behind bars. Justice has been done and they no longer pose a threat to society or the young girls they preyed on.

"As the Home Secretary, I will do all in my power to leave the callous cowards who groom and sexually abuse children with no place to hide."

Earlier this week the six men were jailed for a catalogue of offences on victims as young as 13.

Sentencing at Oxford Crown Court Judge Peter Ross said there were 'sinister' crimes which left their victims feeling 'worthless'.

The NSPCC also praised the girls, now women, for coming forward and facing their tormentors at court.

The convicted men are:

-Assad Hussain, sentenced to life in prison with a minimum jail term of 12 years.

-Moinul Islam, jailed for 15 years and nine months.

-Kameer Iqbal, jailed for 12 years.

-Khalid Hussain, jailed for 12 years.

-Alladitta Yousaf, jailed for seven and a half years.

-Haji Khan, jailed for 10 years.

Two other men - Kamran Khan and Raheem Ahmed, were also jailed as part of the offences in April, Khan for eight years and Ahmed for 12 years.
