IT WAS all about marching to the beat of your own drum this week as Camera Club celebrated the ‘odd one out’.

From a determined duckling refusing to go the same direction as the other birds to a sunbathing damselfly taking a rest on a floating feather, the subjects of many submissions were revelling in doing things their own way.

A perfect example is Roy Pyniger’s amusing snap of a bird joyfully spreading its black wings while sat with a row of unimpressed-looking seagulls.

Other animals, meanwhile, refused to let the fact they look different hold them back.

Sharon Allen captured a beautifully detailed shot of a brown cow in a field of white cows that can be seen blurred in the background.

We also loved Bryan Robertson’s image of an adorable black lamb standing out against his more traditional-looking sibling.

More odd ones out in nature included a lucky four leaf clover by Ian Marriott, a single red poppy popping with colour in a field of daisies by Mr Robertson and a blackberry ripened early by David Rodger-Sharp.

There were also plenty of manmade oddities, with a special shout out to Mr Marriott who made a sign spelling out Oxford Mail in laminate flooring recently ripped from his house. Bonus points for fitting it to the theme by painting just the M in mail our signature red.

A row of forks by Allen Dannfald also stood out, with a singular turned-over utensil making for an interesting optical illusion with the difference between the tines and shadows hard at first to decipher.

Finally, we enjoyed Becca Collacott’s image of a children playing with hay bales by the water. The lone child peering down at their campaigns makes for perfectly balanced photograph.

Next week we have been inspired by the bloomin’ marvellous selection of floral snaps being shared on the Camera Club facebook page in recent weeks and will be dedicating the spread to ‘flower power’.

We expect to be drowning in petals so don’t disappoint!
