A POLICE helicopter was hovering over Abingdon last night after reports of a person in the river.
The National Police Air Service Benson confirmed it was called out to an incident at around 10pm.
Residents reported hearing 'a lot of noise' overhead.
The search appeared to focus on the south of the town at the top of Drayton Road.

Responding to queries on Twitter NPAS Benson said: "They were indeed in Abingdon after a report of a person in the river."
It is not known what happened to the person.
Thames Valley Police has been contacted for comment.
