A ROCK band forced to abandon a show over concerns that their Oxford venue was flooded with raw sewage, celebrated their return with a souvenir T shirt.

Don Broco had to postpone their show at the O2 Academy Oxford in April because of a plumbing failure at the Cowley Road venue. The band had claimed concert-goers were “standing in human faeces”.

To the delight of fans, the band returned on Wednesday – playing a sold out show in more sanitary conditions.

To mark their return, the band printed T shirts mocking the venue – labelling the show The Bad Plumping Tour 2018. In a twist on the traditional tour T shirt, the two Oxford shows were listed, with the cancelled gig crossed out.

Alan Day of promoter Kilimanjaro, said: “ The band printed a limited run of shirts for the show and they sold out within 30 minutes. There were no problems with the show this time, although the band did start by walking on with the house lights up , saying there was another problem and they couldn’t play. After the brief joke, they headed into a 100 minute set of mosh pit anthems.”

April’s cancellation left fans frustrated. In a video posted on Twitter the band could be heard telling a booing audience: “We’re not allowed to play because there’s a very good health and safety risk because apparently a lot of you are currently standing in human faeces.”

The O2 Academy did not confirm the cause of the cancellation, but said there had been a “spanner in the works” meaning the event needed to be postponed.

Don Broco have a top 5 album and have sold more than 40,000 tickets for their punchy live shows around the UK since November.
