THERE are no straight answers to be found in camera club this week as we sent members chasing after 'curves'.

From contented cats gently curling as they stretch to racing Red Arrows leaving looping trails in the air, our theme could be found in a wide array of places and spaces.

Architecture was an inspiration for many submissions, with particular favourites a shot of Oxford's Blavatnik interior by Darrell Godliman and an idyllic image of Harcourt Arboretum ticket office by Allen Dannfald.

We especially love the way Mr Godliman's use of a fisheye lens takes in the full spiral staircase inside the award-winning building.

A simpler architectural curve could be found in Duncan Becker's atmospheric shot of a footbridge in Wolvercote silhouetted against the backdrop of a stunning sunrise.

Some of our favourite photographs this week took manmade curves a step further and focused on their creation.

We enjoyed a tactile snap of a potter turning and trimming a bowl by Sharon Allen as well as Bob Sherlock's image of the intense heat needed to curve steelwork.

One of the most unusual manmade curves was an unfurling roll of punch tape captured by Geoffrey Hill.

The tape was used at Bletchley Park during the Second World War to decode and send secret messages.

There were also plenty of curves to be captured in nature, from a close up shot of the concentric veins in two bright green leaves by Shez Honour to the curved top of a red toadstool by Brian Daniels.

Curving creature highlights, meanwhile, included Dawn Tivnan's image of a snail (slowly) making a u-turn as it travels along her window and a shot of a serene swan gliding across the water at RSPB Otmoor by Jeff Higgs.

After the soothing softness of curves, next week's theme is 'odd one out' and the more jarring interlopers the better.

For those willing to miss a Saturday morning lie in, there is also another camera club outing tomorrow at Farmoor Reservoir from 8am.
