A WOMAN in her 60s suffered multiple injuries and has been taken to hospital after a crash this morning which set two cars on fire.

Two others who were in the second car were also taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford this afternoon.

The cars had a head-on collision on the A338 at East Hanney near Wantage at about 11.30am this morning.

South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) sent three road ambulances and the Thames Valley Air Ambulance to the scene.

Oxford Mail:

The road was shut for several hours while the vehicles were removed and patients treated.

SCAS spokesman David Gallagher said this evening: "One of the drivers, a female in her 60s, had sustained multiple serious injuries and after treatment at the scene was then taken by road to the major trauma centre at the John Radcliffe Hospital, with the air ambulance team travelling with her to hospital.

"Two other patients in the second vehicle sustained minor injuries and were also taken by ambulance to the John Radcliffe."

The road had re-opened by mid-afternoon.
