A SUPERMARKET was forced to shut last night after a huge leak in the roof.
Shoppers in Asda, Wheatley, shared footage of water pouring from the ceiling and onto the fresh fruit and vegetables.
Asda has apologised to customers for the early closure which follows days of heavy rain and thunderstorms, with a downpour yesterday evening seemingly causing the leak.
The deluge also came down onto the checkout area, with staff members seen carrying umbrellas inside the store.
In this video, shot by Dennis Mcsweeny, some shoppers can be seen continuing with their shopping while the water poured into the supermarket from above.
Another customer said the roof was leaking 'in at least three places', including the frozen food aisle.
Customers reported Asda shut about 8pm, two hours earlier than normal. It reopened today.
An Asda spokesman said: “We fixed the problem last night and the store was open as normal today, we’d like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused.”
