TWO people have been arrested in Oxford as part of a crackdown on drugs.

Police tweeted that two addresses in Priory Road, Littlemore, were searched by officers on Wednesday as part of Operation Stronghold.

They added two people were arrested for drug offences as a result and investigations were ongoing.

There has a been a force-wide effort to clampdown on drugs in recent months, with raids on addresses in Blackbird Leys, Banbury and Abingdon.

At the start of the year Oxford city commander superintendent Joe Kidman branded drug crime a top priority for police this year. 

Thames Valley Police's Stronghold campaign is aimed at stamping out organised crime - generally drug-related - and protecting vulnerable people.
