EDDIE Pepperell made a steady start in the BMW PGA Championship, shooting a level-par 72 at Wentworth.
The Frilford Heath member got off to a bad start on a wet morning, dropping a shot at the par-four first.
But Pepperell birdied the fourth and fifth holes to move to one-under-par.
However, a bogey at the eighth curtailed the World No 100’s progress, as he completed the front nine in a level-par 35.
Pepperell soon picked up another shot at the par-four 13th.
But a bogey two holes later meant the 27-year-old had to be content with shooting a level-par opening round.
Pepperell will tee off at 12.20pm tomorrow, partnering Andrew Johnston and Haotong Li.
