SOME 100 people came together at Templars Square shopping centre to give a ‘thumbs up’ to Dementia Action Week.

Shoppers were called on to unite for the cause and show their support with a finger or thumb print on a canvas set up by the Alzheimer’s Society.

The ‘Print for Action’ stall attracted about 100 people on Tuesday showing their support for people affected by dementia in the area.

Alzheimer’s Society services manager for Oxfordshire Lisa Thompson said: “This year we asked people to come together to unite against dementia by taking actions, big or small, to improve the everyday lives of people affected by dementia.

“Activities like the Print for Action illustrated how taking action can help people affected by dementia to feel more included in their community and able to live the life that they want. It was great to see shoppers really engaging with us and wanting to show their support.

“A special thanks needs to go to Peter Watson at Broad Canvas Art Supplies, in Oxford for donating the canvas and paints.”

Dementia Action Week runs until Sunday. There are currently 1,410 people living with dementia in Oxford.
