Hundreds of the county’s residents are expected to gather to celebrate another year of festivities at the biggest event in the Thai calendar.

In traditional Thai style and five years on since the birth of the event, the grounds of Botley Park will be laced with food, colour and live music as traders boast the finest Thai delicacies and artists prepare to showcase performances and picture worthy displays in a line up of events at the two-day fiesta.

Aiming to exhibit the very best of what Thailand has to offer, as well as supporting the local community, organisers at the Oxford Thai Festival promise ‘a dazzling display of traditions, culture and celebration’.

Festivalgoers will be able to indulge in two full days of celebrations which will include an array of live events including cooking demonstrations and traditional dance performances.

This year, those who have visited the before can expect changes to the usual line up as performers gear up to take to the main stage in a display of traditional Thai dance, Muay Thai Boxing and live ladyboy shows.

Foodies can feast on Thai favourites from around the city, who will be on hand to offer a taste of Thailand with samples from dishes including papaya salads, barbecued pork skewers and special noodles.

Art lovers can visit stalls from artists who will be showcasing designs and picture worthy displays of jewellery, sculptures,carvings and clothes in the park from 10am until 7pm.

Among the range of venues at the event will be be festival favourite, masterclass tent, that will see experts host a range of demonstrations and experiences from wine tasting, live food shows, and cocktail making classes.

Youngsters and the young hearted at the festival can also get stuck into the line up of things going on with fairground rides, ice cream stalls and the opportunity to head home with some new hair braids.

The doors will swing open to kick start the festival on Saturday June 23, waving a final goodbye until the following year on June 24.

The event costs £4 for adults and £2 for children and money will be donated to help fund the cost of schools in Thailand.
