A MAN has been charged with a string of offences after an armed siege in Oxford on Monday.
Duncan Shearman*, 24, of Paradise Square, has been charged by Thames Valley Police with:
- One count of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence
- Three counts of possession of a weapon for the discharge of a noxious liquid or gas
Shearman will appear today at Banbury Magistrates' Court.
He was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, but police have confirmed no charge has been brought in connection with that.
Police shut Paradise Square and surrounding roads for much of Bank Holiday Monday following an armed stand-off between a gunman and police.
* A previous version stated the name Sherman - police have since amended the name after releasing the incorrect spelling.
