THERE were prehistoric goings on at the Story Museum as children were challenged to create their own 'early man' models.

Model-makers from the world-famous animations studios Aardman, creators of Wallace and Gromit, lead three workshops to help 8-12 year olds make characters from the new film Early Man.

Lead by the same people whose day job is to make the models seen on screen, the sold-out sessions were attended by more than 150 children.

They were guided along the step-by-step process to create their own model out of clay of the film's lead character Dug, voiced by Eddy Redmayne, and a rabbit, the animal hunted by the stone age dwellers.

David Gibb, marketing and communications officer for the museum, said: "It was a fantastic day and a pleasure to have Aardman back with us.

"It was such a great way to finish off our Easter holidays programme and everyone had a lot of fun."
