MUMS will compete in a five-a-side football tournament on Saturday to raise money for charities close to the heart of a football club.

The women, many of whom will be playing for the first time, will compete in the third Oxford Blackbirds mums (and other female relatives) football tournament from 10am in Blackbird Leys Fields in Cuddesdon Way.

As well as raising funds for the club, which has 15 teams, the tournament will support the Williams Syndrome Foundation and the Charlotte Nott Trust Fund.

Charlotte Nott, whose dad Alex Nott coaches the under 12s side, lost all her limbs to meningitis in 2010 when she was two years old.

The Horspath-based youngster, now 10, has become a local hero after beating the disease and taking part in ski trips and visits to Florida.

Saturday's tournament will also raise money for the Williams Syndrome Foundation.

The club chose to support this cause because Rhianna, the sister of under 13s player Connor Brennan, has had to have two sets of spinal surgery due to having the neurodevelopmental condition.

Friends, family and supporters are invited to come along and watch the ten teams compete in the tournament which finishes at around noon.
