WHO next for a pothole disaster?

Well just over a week ago an articulated lorry crashed off the flyover then down on to the Tesco roundabout beneath. This normally busy roundabout was totally clear of traffic, and the lorry landed safely, with the driver slightly injured.

The reason this vehicle crashed, as we have been informed, was that with slight freezing over an enormous pothole that the lorry went into, caused the crash. This was recorded on the lorry’s camera.

Now let us look at what our hard-earned money has been spent on over the last couple of years, and squandered by Oxfordshire County Council.

The millions and millions of pounds wasted on the Banbury and Woodstock Road, Sunderland Avenue project has solved nothing, with road lanes going from three and then into two, and finally one lane, causing total road rage.

It was financially more economical to have left it as it was; this stupid idea of planning three and two lanes into one, similar to the Tesco roundabout exit into Garsington Road, only causes road rage, and does nothing to solve traffic flow.

Next – why was millions of pounds spent on a cycle lane each side of the road from Old Road roundabout to the Corner House Slade Road, Headington.

As I have observed, hardly used. Who makes these decisions to waste our money incompetently? Potholes all over Oxfordshire are becoming lethal death traps, especially for a cyclist, as we have now become well aware. How many thousands of pounds has been paid out by Oxfordshire County Council for damaged vehicles?

I for one know, having been in the major repair trade business. When will we have sensible people with brains running our council, spending our money on important progress?

Horspath has been without a public bus service since last year, causing considerable hardship to everyone, especially the young and old residents who cannot afford the high taxi costs.

The county council cannot find the money to support this, but they can find the money for lots of other harebrained decisions. The money they rake in from Horspath council tax runs into millions, and how can we use public transport as recommended, when there is none
