SUPPORTERS of an Oxford hospice can stride through a carpet of yellow as a country house opens up its grounds.

Adwell House near Thame, home to husband and wife Tom and Imogen Birch Reynardson, will welcome visitors tomorrow for Sobell House's annual Daffodil Walk.

The house is set among more than 15 acres of manicured lawns and picturesque woodland, in which 30,000 daffodils of 300 varieties are blooming.

Visitors are welcome to explore for an entry fee of £5, while children under 12 go free.

All proceeds will go to Headington hospice Sobell House, which is in the middle of major plans to expand its palliative and end-of-life care for adults with life-limiting conditions.

Mr Birch Reynardson, a former High Sheriff of Oxfordshire, said: "We've had a personal experience with Sobell House and seen for ourselves the level of care for the dying and the bereaved that the hospice offers.

"Their approach to palliative care is second to none.

"There is an increasing need for hospice care in Oxfordshire and Sobell House's plans for expanding their services are ambitious and require local support.

"I hope the sun comes out for us and we have a great turn-out to support the hospice."

Dominique Cadiou, head of fundraising at Sobell House, said: "For the third year running we have been fortunate enough to invite our supporters and the wider public to come and admire the beautiful gardens at Adwell House.

"We are delighted the Birch Reynardsons have opened the gardens once again."

The grounds will open from 2pm until 5.30pm, and there is no need to book.

Dogs are welcome.
