A PUFFIN crossing will be installed outside West Way shopping centre but a local school urged for more action at the 'very hazardous crossing'.
Botley School neither objected to nor supported the crossing by Elms Parade shops but used the consultation to air its concerns.
It said: "We have had concerns about the tremendous speed of buses and taxis using the bus lane and their proximity to pedestrians,
"There is huge potential for them being clipped by as vehicles speed passed impatiently, especially with the increase of queueing traffic on West Way.
"The pavement on the Elms Road side of the proposed crossing are very narrow, completely inadequate to safely accommodate the 450 children, their parents, with buggies, bikes and scooters, all arriving and leaving at the same time every day."
The school and its governors called for reassurances from Oxfordshire County Council and involvement in future decisions.
